Have you ever wondered about yoga for clear skin?

It can be completely frustrating to feel like you never have control over what your skin looks like.  I felt that way for years- dreading my first look in the mirror each morning to see what popped up on my face over night.  Everything I tried with prescriptions, products and drugs never seemed to get rid of my acne.  But there was a reason why nothing I was doing ever worked…

Message Behind the Breakout

First, the skin acts as a mirror for our internal health.  Yes!  That pimple is a message from your body that something is imbalanced or “off” inside.  I know a breakout is never pleasant, but it made me feel better to know that my body was just trying to communicate with me that something was wrong- almost like a plea for help.  I just had to figure out what that message was so I could address the root cause of my breakouts.

I’ve been talking about hormones a lot lately as it is one of the main causes of most acne and premature aging.  When there is an imbalance of hormones (which can happen very easily) combined with an overload toxins, this triggers excess sebum (oil) that will lead to breakouts when combined with bacteria.

Hormonal Imbalance Causes

Hormone imbalances are caused by diet, lifestyle, environmental synthetic hormones, birth control pills and emotional stress to name a few.  I know many of us are dealing with a lot in our day-to-day lives.  One of the most important practices I incorporated into my life for hormonal balance and lasting clear skin was yoga.

Detox Your Skin

Seeing as spring is a time of renewal and everyone is deciding how to detoxify themselves, yoga is the best cleanse you can give your body.  It is a natural skin detox that can be so simple.

Yoga is great for all skin conditions, particularly acne.  It lowers stress which is one of the keys to hormonal bliss.  Chronic stress causes constant surges of cortisol and wears out our adrenals- both will steal youthfulness and clear skin and causes major imbalances to your entire hormonal system.

Inverted poses bring increased blood flow to the brain and allows for better circulation around the face for a rosy glow.  Also any yoga that works up a sweat helps remove toxins from the body that otherwise would have been “eliminated” in the form of breakouts and accelerated aging.

To keep it simple, yoga re-balances hormones and removes excess toxins- both causes of acne.

There are simple routines you can do easily and effortless every day that with consistency will make a dramatic difference in your skin and health.
